Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời đức Phật trú tại vườn Cấp Cô Độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, tại nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Ở trong chúng này, nếu có một người nào nghĩ điều gì, Ta tất biết rõ. Sau đó người này ở trong chúng không vì sự ăn uống mà nói lời hư dối. Nhưng vào một lúc khác, Ta xem thấy người này sinh tâm đắm nhiễm, niệm tưởng tài vật, nên ở trong đại chúng nói hư dối. Vì sao vậy? Này các Tỳ-kheo, sự đắm nhiễm tài vật thật là khó bỏ, khiến người rơi vào trong ba đường dữ, không đến được chỗ vô vi. Cho nên, này các Tỳ-kheo, đã sinh tâm này rồi, thì hãy xả ly. Giả sử chưa sinh, chớ để khởi tâm nhiễm đắm tài vật. Như vậy, này các Tỳ-kheo, hãy học điều này.”
Các Tỳ-kheo sau khi nghe những gì Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨 T 0566c23園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「於此眾中，若有一 T 0566c24人而作是念，我悉知之。然後此人不以 T 0566c25飲食，在大眾中而虛妄語。我或復於異時， T 0566c26觀見此人，生染著心，念於財物，便於大眾 T 0566c27中而作妄語。所以然者，諸比丘！財物染著 T 0566c28甚為難捨，令人墜墮三惡道中，不得至 T 0566c29無為之處！是故，諸比丘！已生此心，便當捨 T 0567a01離；設未生者，勿復興心染著財物。如是，諸 T 0567a02比丘！當作是學。」
爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡 T 0567a03喜奉行。
T 0567a04 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “There was a person thinking in this assembly, and I fully knew it. Afterward, it wasn’t possible for this person to eat their meal, for they had spoken falsely in the great assembly. On some other occasion, I examined this person, and they had become obsessed with thoughts about valuable things. Then, they spoke falsely to the great assembly. Why was that? Monks, obsessions with valuable things are very difficult to abandon. They cause people to fall to the three bad destinations and not reach the unconditioned state.
SC 3“Therefore, monks, one must abandon these thoughts that have arisen. If they have yet to arise, then don’t create anymore thoughts that are obsessed with valuable things. Thus, monks, you should train yourselves.”
SC 4When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
