Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời đức Phật trú tại vườn Cấp Cô Độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, tại nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Hãy diệt một pháp, Ta sẽ xác chứng các ngươi thành A-na-hàm. Một pháp gì? Tham dục. Này các Tỳ-kheo, hãy diệt tham dục, Ta sẽ các chứng các ngươi đắc A-na-hàm.”
Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn liền nói kệ này:
Bị nhiễm bởi tham dâm,
Chúng sanh rơi đường dữ;
Siêng tu bỏ tham dục,
Liền thành A-na-hàm.
Các Tỳ-kheo sau khi nghe những gì Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.

T 0566b05 T 0566b06聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨 T 0566b07園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「當滅一法，我證卿 T 0566b08等成阿那含。云何為一法？所謂貪欲。諸比 T 0566b09丘！當滅貪欲，我證卿等得阿那含。」
爾時，世 T 0566b10尊便說此偈：

「貪婬之所染， 眾生墮惡趣； T 0566b12
當懃捨貪欲， 便成阿那含。」
T 0566b13爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
T 0566b14 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “If someone were to cease one thing, I’d bear witness that they’ve become a non-returner. What’s that one thing? It’s greed. Monks, you should cease greed, then I’ll bear witness that you’ve become non-returners.”
SC 3The Buddha then spoke this verse:
“The stain of greed
Makes sentient beings fall to bad destinies.
One should endeavor to abandon greed,
Then they’ll become a non-returner.”
SC 4When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
