Ngài là bậc Như Lai, Ứng Cúng, Chánh Biến Tri, Minh Hạnh Túc, Thiện Thệ, Thế Gian Giải, Vô Thượng Sĩ Điều Ngự Trượng Phu, Thiên Nhân Sư, Phật, Thế Tôn.
Vị ấy có lòng tin bất động nơi Giáo Pháp (như sau):
Giáo Pháp do Đức Thế Tôn khéo thuyết giảng, thiết thực hiện tại, không bị thời gian chi phối, có khả năng hướng thượng, đến để mà thấy, và được người trí tự mình chứng ngộ; tức là sự đoạn trừ kiêu mạn, sự dập tắt khát ái, sự diệt trừ dục vọng, sự cắt đứt các pháp hữu vi, sự chứng đắc tánh không, sự chấm dứt tham ái, ly dục, diệt tận, Niết-bàn.
Vị ấy có lòng tin bất động nơi Tăng-già (như sau):
Tăng-già đệ tử của Đức Thế Tôn là những bậc thực hành chân chánh, thực hành ngay thẳng, thực hành đúng đắn, thực hành thích đáng, thực hành đúng Pháp, sống đúng Pháp. Trong Tăng-già có những vị đang thực hành để chứng đắc quả Nhập-lưu, có những vị đã chứng quả Nhập-lưu; có những vị đang thực hành để chứng đắc quả Nhất-lai, có những vị đã chứng quả Nhất-lai; có những vị đang thực hành để chứng đắc quả Bất-hoàn, có những vị đã chứng quả Bất-hoàn; có những vị đang thực hành để chứng đắc quả A-la-hán, có những vị đã chứng quả A-la-hán; tức là bốn đôi tám bậc Thánh. Đây là Tăng-già đệ tử của Đức Thế Tôn, đầy đủ giới, đầy đủ định, đầy đủ tuệ, đầy đủ tín, đầy đủ văn, đầy đủ giải thoát, đầy đủ tri kiến giải thoát. Các vị ấy xứng đáng được cúng dường, xứng đáng được nghinh đón, xứng đáng được dâng cúng, xứng đáng được chắp tay vái chào, là ruộng phước vô thượng ở đời.
Vị ấy đầy đủ giới luật được các bậc Thánh tán thán (như sau): Bất cứ giới luật nào, giới ấy không bị phá vỡ, không bị lỗi lầm, không bị ô nhiễm, không bị tỳ vết, đem lại giải thoát, không bị chấp thủ, được thực hành khéo léo, được thực hành đúng đắn, được người trí tán thán, không bị người trí chỉ trích.
Này các Tỳ-kheo, đây là bốn chi phần của bậc Nhập-lưu.
Herein, monastics, what are the four factors of a stream enterer?

Here a [monastic,] noble disciple is endowed with perfect confidence in the Buddha (thus):
Such is he, the Gracious One, the Realised One, the Worthy One, the Perfect Sambuddha, the one endowed with understanding and good conduct, the Fortunate One, the one who understands the worlds, the unsurpassed guide for those people who need taming, the Teacher of gods and men, the Buddha, the Gracious One.

He is endowed with perfect confidence in the Dharma (thus):
The Dharma has been well-proclaimed by the Gracious One, it is visible, healthy, not subject to time, onward leading, inviting inspection, and can be understood by the wise for themselves, that is to say, (it is) the crushing of pride, dispelling of thirst, eradication of desire, cutting off of (material) things, the apprehension of emptiness, the end of craving, dispassion, cessation, Nirvāṇa.

The Gracious One’s Community of disciples are good in their practice, systematic in their practice… hold straight views in their practice… are correct in their practice, practising in conformity with the Teaching, living in conformity with the Teaching. There are in the Community those practising for experiencing for themselves the fruit of stream-entry, there are in the Community those who are stream-enterers, there are in the Community those practising for experiencing for themselves the fruit of once-returning, there are in the Community those who are once-returners, there are in the Community those practising for experiencing for themselves the fruit of non-returning, there are in the Community those who are non-returners, there are in the Community those practising for experiencing for themselves the fruit of Worthiness, there are in the Community those who are Worthy, that is to say, the four pairs of persons, the eight individual persons, this is the Gracious One’s Community of disciples, endowed with virtue, endowed with concentration, endowed with wisdom, endowed with faith, endowed with learning, endowed with freedom, endowed with knowledge and insight into freedom, they are worthy of offerings, of hospitality, of gifts, and of correct behaviour, they are an unsurpassed field of merit that are visible in the world.

He is endowed with virtue that is agreeable to the noble ones (thus): Whatever virtue there is, it is unbroken, faultless, unspotted, unblemished, productive of freedom, not adhered to, well-obtained, well-undertaken, praised by the wise, uncensured by the wise.
