Một thời, Phật ở tại vườn Cấp cô độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn nói với các Tỳ-kheo:
“Nếu pháp là vô thường, thì nên đoạn trừ; khi đãø đoạn trừ được pháp này rồi, thì sẽ được nhiều lợi ích và luôn luôn được an lạc. Pháp nào là vô thường? Sắc là vô thường; thọ, tưởng, hành, thức là vô thường.”
Phật nói kinh này xong, các Tỳ-kheo nghe những gì Đức Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
如是我聞：
一時，佛住舍衛國祇樹給孤T 0045c16獨園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「若法無常者當T 0045c17斷，斷彼法已，以義饒益，長夜安樂。何法無T 0045c18常？色無常，受、想、行、識無常。」
佛說此經已，諸T 0045c19比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
T 0045c20Thus have I heard. At one time the Buddha was staying at Sāvatthī in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's Park.
At that time the Blessed One said to the monks: “You should eradicate those things that are impermanent. Having eradicated those things will be for your benefit and welfare, for your peace and happiness for a long time. What things are impermanent? Bodily form is impermanent, feeling … perception … formations … consciousness is impermanent.”
When the Buddha had spoken this discourse, hearing what the Buddha had said the monks were delighted and received it respectfully.
