王復 T 0714c29問那先。卿曹諸沙門言。天下地皆在水上。水 T 0715a01在風上。風在空上。我不信是也。那先便前取 T 0715a02王書水適以三指撮舉之問王言。是中水為 T 0715a03風所持不。王言然。為風所持。那先言風持水 T 0715a04亦如是。王言善哉。
The king asked Nāgasena again, “Your people say that the earth rests on water, that water T 715a rests on air, and that air rests on space. These words, I cannot believe.”
Then the elder Nāgasena took the writing ink(?) of the king and held the pot of writing ink upside down with three fingers and asked the king, “Is the water in this pot supported by atmosphere?”
The king said, “Yes, it is supported by the atmosphere.”
“So is the water supported by air.”
“Excellent, Nāgasena.”
