TTC 2Thật khó tìm được, này các Tỷ-kheo, một người xuất gia lớn tuổi lại tế nhị; thật khó tìm được một người có uy nghi tốt đẹp; thật khó tìm được một người nghe nhiều; thật khó tìm được một người thuyết pháp; thật khó tìm được một người trì luật.
Này các Tỷ-kheo, thật khó tìm được một người xuất gia lớn tuổi lại thành tựu năm pháp này.
“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato dullabho vuḍḍhapabbajito.
Katamehi pañcahi?
Dullabho, bhikkhave, vuḍḍhapabbajito nipuṇo, dullabho ākappasampanno, dullabho bahussuto, dullabho dhammakathiko, dullabho vinayadharo.
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato dullabho vuḍḍhapabbajitoti.

SC 1“Bhikkhus, it is rare to find one gone forth in old age who possesses five qualities. What five? It is rare to find one gone forth in old age (1) who is astute; (2) who has the proper manner; (3) who is learned; (4) who can speak on the Dhamma; and (5) who is an expert on the discipline. It is rare to find one gone forth in old age who possesses these five qualities.”
